Year 1 Miss Smart Diamond Class
Diamond Class 2020-21
Class teacher: Miss Smart
LSA's: Mrs Fielder, Mrs Friel and Miss Illingworth
A very warm welcome back to all the children and parents of Diamond Class. After a very strange few months, I hope you have been able to enjoy your summer holidays and everyone is ready for the new challenges ahead! We have a busy half term and our main priority is your child's well-being. We know that it has been a difficult time for all and we want to ensure that the children settle back into school routines happily.
This year we will really be encouraging the children to be even more independent and responsible for their belongings. It makes it much easier for them if they can find and read their name on their things, therefore to help your child (and teachers!) please could all children have in school:
- A named water bottle
- A named book bag
- A named cardigan/jumper
- A named lunch box (if your child brings one in)
Our topic this term is Incredible Me - an overview of what we will be learning will be available in the next week. We will spend the first week back looking at the book After the Fall by Dan Sanitat which focusses on perseverance and resilience.
In order to reduce the need for close support whilst changing for PE and Forest School, we would be grateful if children could come into school wearing their PE kits and Forest School clothes on the appropriate day. Diamond Class will be doing PE on Monday and Thursday and Forest School on Tuesday.
Reading books will go out in the first full week of term and thereafter will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Homework books will also be coming home shortly - more of that later!
We are all really looking forward to getting to know the class and helping them achieve their very best in the coming year.
