Welcome back to all children and parents of Emerald class. I hope you have had a relaxing break and everyone is ready for the challenges ahead! We have a busy half term and our main priority is to get your child happily settled into Year 1.
To help your child (and the teachers!) please could all children have in school:
As we encourage the children to be more independent and responsible for their belongings, it makes it much easier for them if they can find and read their name on their things.
Our topic this term is Incredible Me - an overview of what we will be learning will be available in the next week. We have an introductory meeting on Tuesday 11th September where we will explain some of what we hope to achieve this year. Please see Mrs Morrisson's newsletter for more details.
PE is on Thursdays for Emerald class.
Reading books will go out in the first full week of term and thereafter will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Show and Tell is on Friday and children will be told a week in advance whose turn it is (one group per week).
Homework books will also be coming home shortly - more of that later!
Miss Tomes and myself are really looking forward to getting to know the class and helping them achieve their very best in the coming year.
We had a fantastic day at Whipsnade Zoo - thank you to all the parents that helped. We saw a lot of animals and walked a long way. We learnt about camouflage and different habitats in a focus session with the Whipsnade staff, as well as stroking a python.
Welcome to our class page. Here you will find out about all the fun and exciting things we have been doing in our class during the week :)
Do you have any ideas for this page? Why not let your Teacher know!
Where has the year gone?
We are half way through our Year 1 journey already and what a ride it has been so far.
Here are some of the things we have been up to so far...
On Monday we went on a sensory hunt in the play ground and forest school to find objects we could use to make a picture. We then created our own dance to represent the objects we found (Feathers, leaves, rocks, sticks and acorn shells)
Today we used all of these objects to create 'CARRINGTON BEAR!'
Welcome back 1LV!
We hope you have had a fantastic summer holiday and are ready for lots of exciting learning in Year 1.
