PE Grant/Sports Premium
PE and School Sport Funding
All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation, and we pride ourselves at Carrington Infant School on the opportunities we provide for our children to be active and outdoors. Our children use our forest school weekly and our school field extensively to learn and play actively.
Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.
The PE and Sport Premium is specific support from the government to enable schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sports.

Our Running Track
We are so proud to be part of the daily mile initiative, we even feature on ‘The Daily Mile’ map. Most classes have actively participated every day this term on our running track. The Daily Mile makes children fitter, healthier and happier, and has a positive impact on their behaviour and concentration levels. It is simple and effective, enabling every child to be active every day. Our children are excited to see who will receive their bronze certificate for completing 50 miles.
You can support this at home, by both encouraging their confidence in running and moving outside with them, out of school hours. Parents often say that ‘The Daily Mile’ helps children to eat and sleep better and that often they become young ambassadors for whole family fitness! If you would like to also participate in ‘The Daily Mile’ you can sign up to the adults' initiative, or you could consider doing ‘The Daily Mile’ at home.
